ACFLi's PAST, PRESENT & FUTURE
The Association of Citizens & Friends of Liberia (ACFLi) was founded in
Sacramento, California in June 1990, by a group of Liberians and friends of
Liberia. This group was motivated by a profound conviction that there was a
need to unite Liberians and friends of Liberia, to promote understanding and
cooperation within the community in the areas of social interaction and culture,
and to provide humanitarian aid to those in need.
During the past 15 years of ACFLi's ( Association of Citizens & Friends of
Liberia) existence, thousands of people have attended and enjoyed its social,
cultural, and fund raising programs. In addition, ACFLi has donated proceeds
from its fund raisers to several charitable and humanitarian organizations in
the Sacramento area, other parts of the United States and the world for direct
delivery of goods and services to victims of disasters and others in need.
A partial list of those charitable and humanitarian organizations include United
Way, The Women Civic Improvement Center of Sacramento, American Red
Cross, Doctors without Borders, NAACP, Catholic Relief Service, September
11 Disaster Relief Fund. ACFLi sent $50,000 in financial assistance to 5
Orphanages in Liberia.
ACFLi's officers have rendered assistance to fellow Liberians with Immigration
and Naturalization issues.
ACFLi collaborates with Sac Mutual Housing Association to provide affordable
and quality housing for community members
Due to her record, The ACFLi organization was recently selected to decorate
and adorn the office of Assemblymember Dave Jones with Liberian cultural
artifacts. Thanks & Appreciation to our members who assisted towards this
successful project.
