PURPOSE        ACFLi is operated for charitable and humanitarian purposes within
the meaning of Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
OBJECTIVES
To share the unique cultural heritage of the members of the Association with the
community;
To cooperate with other humanitarian organizations in providing humanitarian aid
to those that are in need ;
To lawfully do things that are necessary and appropriate for the achievement of
the organization's objectives.

Brothers Joe Matadi and Philip Suah will be shipping a container to Liberia next
month, October, and will take barrels for folks. The cost of the barrels is $200 a
piece depending on whether you have your own barrels. If you want discounts
please consider the shipping cost of a 40' container: $9000 to $10000. They are
shipping their personal stuff and are willing to ship stuffs for others. Please

OPEN FORUM WITH THE COMMUNITY YOUTH:  Bishop R.W Chea and other
leaders of our community would like to have an open forum with the youth to
discuss issues that is seriously affecting our community. (1) Moral issues affecting
the youth.  (2)  Leadership and guidance for our youth (3) Support,
Encouragement and Education. This meeting will be held at the Women Civic
Improvement Center of Sacramento (WCIC) on November 18, 2008 at 4:00 pm.

BENDU HUNTER - BREAST CANCER AWARENESS
MEETING
:   The Breast Cancer Awareness movement in our community will have
its first meeting at the home of Bendu Hunter, 3050 66th Avenue, Sacramento,
CA, 95822 on Sept. 28, 2008 at 5p.m.  You will receive a phone call as a
reminder.  We look forward to having all women at this meeting.  It is not a social
club.

NANA WASHINGTON AND BOIMA KONUWA:   The youth week-end will kick off
in the second week-end in November 7 - 9, 2008.  It will start 20 from Friday to
Sunday.  More information to follow.  Nana Washington, Boima Konuwa, Nafesa
Konneh our new youth and Yedeh Wilson will be planning this event.

STATE OF THE UNION ADDRESS:  The Association of Citizens and Friends of
Liberia will be having its final general meeting on October 25, 2008 5 pm.  We are
encouraging everyone to attend this meeting.  We want to inform you about our
accomplishments, flaws and future plans.  Place of this meeting will be announced
later.

UNION OF LIBERIAN ASSOCIATIONS IN THE AMERICA’S (ULAA):   The
California Chapter of the Union of Liberian Associations in the America's (ULAA)
would like to announce that the California delegation will be represented at the
ULAA convention slated for October 3rd-4th, 2008 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.  
Elections for California Delegates will be held on September 23, 2008.
Mr.
Wendell Woods
will be representing California as one of ULAA Elections
Commissioners on October 3-5, 2008.

ASSOCIATION OF CITIZENS AND FRIENDS OF LIBERIA (ACFLi)
CONGRATULATES:   The Association of Citizens and Friends of Liberia (ACFLi)
would like to congratulate the officers and members of their sister organization,
the
Liberian Community Association of Northern California (LCANC) of the
Bay Area for their forth-coming installation celebration that will be held on October
4th, 2008.  While the California Chapter is being represented on this same date
headed by
President Bendu Hunter in Pittsburgh at the ULAA convention,   
ACFLi will also send another delegation to the LCANC's installation celebration.   

ACFLi’s SCHOLARSHIP DRIVE:  Our Scholarship committee will continue to
solicit funds for our youth.  Some of the scholarship recipients have received their
award. Thanks to
Mr. Doeba Bropleh who has continued to exemplify his
professionalism for our communities.  We will continue to encourage our young
adults to go back to school.  Do not waste your time, please go to school.

ACFLi’s ADMINISTRATION:  will continue to be inclusive and will continue to work
to attract more people to get involved with the work that we are doing or what is
ahead. We have attracted more young people to this Association and our seniors
are always proud to say that they are part of an association like ACFLi that honor
and respect them, especially with a leadership that understands their needs and
work with them directly.  As a Clinical Social Worker and other professionals on
this ACFLi winning team, we have been sensitive to the needs of our people and
have worked to meet some of those needs.  This administration has been people
oriented, not self centered.  We will continue to be inclusive.  Our records will
speak for itself. Financial report is ready and it will be mailed out before the
elections.  Accountability is very important to this administration and a complete
financial record will justify that accountability.

KARMAH  YATES SON OF ELIZA AND CHARLES YATES:   Karmah was in the
Sacramento Bee News paper yesterday, as one of the football players at Florin
High School in Elk Grove.  Please contact Charles Yates at 216-8908 for Karmah’
s game schedule.  Again let us support our own.

OUR YOUTH CAR WASH:  is fast approaching; date, time and place will be
announced.  
Bendu Hunter and Gus Wolo will provide time and place and youth
will take over the car wash

FASHION SHOW:   The fashion show will be held on November 1, 2008.  ACFLi is
collaborating with
Artelia S. Guyton Associations and the Women Civic
Improvement Center of Sacramento (WCIC)
.  ACFLi will only provide some of
the models.  Proceeds will be distributed between the three organizations. All are
non profit originations.  ACFLi has not paid any money to this event.  Our own
Dr.
Pamela Chea
will be the Key Note Speaker.  Tickets are available for sale.
